Aim of the project

The main objective of the project is to educate the public about the importance of biodiversity and to encourage citizens to get involved in the creation of green spaces in cities.

Project results

An innovative modular wild insect hotel has been developed in the M-Lab laboratory at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), demonstrating how high technology can contribute to the conservation of biodiversity in cities.

The modular design of the hotel ensures the versatility of the installation: the wild insect habitat will not only provide shelter for pollinators, but will also contribute to the improvement of the ecosystem once its main function is complete. These shelters are expected to act as small biodiversity enhancers, transforming unused land into thriving habitats for insects, plants and fungi.

The project's activities were presented to the public during the Lithuanian Design Week, 7-14 June, at the exhibition "Books, materials, designs, loops"; at an interactive bioceramics workshop on 29 November, during the Youth For a Sustainable Future conference; and at the Klaipėdos Kultūros fabrikas 10th anniversary exposition, 28-30 November.

We invite design labs to join the initiative
